Our Governing Body

The Spencer Teaching School hub is part of a national network of 87 centres of excellence for teaching training and development, supporting schools and trusts to invest in their workforce.

Our Governing Body – consisting of a Strategic Board and two Steering Groups who account themselves to the Trust Board – holds us to account to ensure we serve the schools within our area.

Our Strategic Board and Governance Structures

The purpose of Spencer Teaching School Hub Strategic Board is to ensure that the Teaching School Hub fulfils its roles and responsibilities as defined in the conditions of designation. The governance provides high quality and ethical challenge. The strategic board acts as a critical friend holding the hub to account for its delivery of Key Performance Indicators as defined by the DfE. It ensures that the Hub has clarity of vision, ethos and strategy.

Our Vision

The collective purpose of the Strategic Board is to build an effective and sustainable partnership to deliver improved outcomes for young people through the development of high-quality teaching and leadership, continually seeking to further school improvement within a school-led, self-improving system. At the heart of this will be shared knowledge and expertise, and the collaboration of key partners.

Structure

The Teaching School Hub is a dual designation for both the lead school, Chetwynd Spencer Academy, and the trust, Spencer Academies Trust. The Strategic Board feeds into both of these governance structures to ensure robust accountability.
