Meet the Team

Our passion for school improvement and high-quality professional development stems from our commitment to the young learners who walk through our gates every day.

As an organisation, we are lucky to work with so many talented professionals and system leaders who show their commitment through the time they willingly spend working with school practitioners across the region.

Our passion for school improvement and high quality professional development stems from our commitment to the young learners who walk through our gates every day.

Our team below shows a cross-section of those who support the work we deliver on but the power of the school-led system stems from all the facilitators, mentors, coaches and guest presenters who contribute to the programmes and training we provide.

Our support team who sit at the centre of the Hub also bring their expertise to the smooth running of all that we do. Our team are on-hand to offer support.

Our Leadership Team

Tammy Elward, Director of Spencer Spencer Teaching School Hub

Tammy is originally a secondary trained practitioner who moved into primary working in both inner city Birmingham and Derby. Her passion is supporting high quality teaching and learning to meet the needs of all learners, including our most disadvantaged. This commitment to addressing educational disadvantage became even more of a focus when she was fortunate to step into the role of Director of the Derby Research School. She believes that school leaders are empowered by engaging with evidence base, crafting their own bespoke school improvement journey to make the biggest impact.

Caroline Arnold, Director of ITT and ECF

Caroline trained as a  teacher of MFL and has taught in a variety of schools in the East Midlands. She believes that great teaching can improve children’s life chances so has always been passionate about teacher education and working with beginning teachers.  She has progressed through a number of ITT roles in school and is now Director of ITT for the George Spencer Academy SCITT.  She is committed to partnership working at all levels and relishes opportunities to work with and learn from colleagues.  She is particularly interested in developing coaching and mentoring skills in schools and leads the NASBTT accredited Teacher Educator Programme.

Lorraine Jackson, Principal of Chetwynd Primary Academy (Lead School) and LLE

Lorraine started her teaching career in Nottingham City, has also taught in Edinburgh before settling in Nottinghamshire.   She is a Principal whose heart lies in the classroom and her motto is, ‘be kind’. She has led the team at our Lead school, Chetwynd Primary Academy, for just over seven years and remains committed to providing all children with the best possible experiences, ensuring that they achieve their full potential both academically and holistically. She is passionate about excellence in teaching and learning and has worked with many schools in our region to spread knowledge and evidence-based practice including working with the Maths Hub after becoming one of the first schools to roll out the Mastery approach.

She was incredibly proud to lead the first primary school in the county to earn an outstanding grading under the new Ofsted framework, knowing that her investment in teaching and leadership development lies at the heart of outstanding teaching and learning: ‘There are no great schools without great teachers’. She welcomes opportunities to share best practice with partners from across the region and is excited to continue this work through the Spencer Teaching School Hub.
